Should we have a live chat area of the site like a shout box, this would be for conversions which people just want to chat rather than ask question

Live chat may reduce the use/need for the forum, in part at least.

Oh i don't see that at all chris, the Verminhunter forum is alive and kicking it's only a small forum but we have people chatting and people posting all the time! the thing is if this was just a matter of cost I'd stump up for it :) as i have said to you before to Graham i'm not swimming in the stuff but i would certainly be able to buy chat credits as i have done before on my own little forum so if you want to set it up i'll pay for it

Well I have already got a system built into the site, but thank you Matt for the offer of the chat credits, so it is not a question of getting that side of it working. It was more about would people use it. What my thoughts were about is, if people just want to chat then they would use the chat section, if they wanted to have something answered or for something to last longer than it takes to scroll down the screen with responses, then they woudl use the forums section.
Matt I have also given you permission to see the chat section so you could try it out.

there is nothing in the chat module about who is online, except who has entered the room. But there is the user online on the home page, I could always add that to the chat page too.

The module I was using for this was not very good, it had a few bugs in it which caused it to fall over every so often. It also did not have all the features that I think make a chat room a proper chat room. I have replaced the module with a more powerful version, and so it should not only work better, but it should also have some additional features which will make it worth using. So check it out from the Chat tab at the top

I thought it looked quite good as well, I will spend a bit of time tonight making the colours fir in a bit more with the site, but overall it works well.
On the note of more members, you should be able to see a new forum, well sort of new, it has been there for about a year but I forgot to add the mods in to have permission to see it DOH!. If you have a browse on over to that you will see a suggestion about that one.
